The Genesis Group Releases Replacement for Motorola's TCMS
Tyler, Texas
Since the beginning of nationwide trunking in the early 1980's, Motorola has maintained a nationwide database of all SMR (Specialized Mobile Radio) IDs. This database was called TCMS (Trunking Code Management System). Significant changes in business environment required SMR operators to take a more active role in ID assignment and radio programming. The emergence of multiple distribution channels, the need to control ID assignment cycle time, the requirement to differentiate from competitors, the technical limitations imposed by TCMS, the desire for self management by SMR operators, necessitated a change in the ID assignment area. To replace TCMS, Motorola licensed two companies to produce and market software to include all of the major TCMS functions. The Genesis Group is one of those companies.

"We are very proud of the fact that we have been licensed by Motorola to complete our GTMS (Genesis Trunking Management Software) solution for Motorola trunking operators", said Phil Burks, President of Genesis. "For several years we have had the ability to automatically assign Motorola trunking IDs and automatically activate the IDs in the trunking central controllers. Now, we have finished the circle and are able to create the 'SDF' (Standard Download File) that is used to program the Motorola radios".

The SDF file is an important addition for the Motorola SMR operator. The SDF contains information that permits a radio shop to program a mobile or portable radio on an SMR system. This tiny file is sent to the radio shop by email or other means. The radio shop uses Motorola's Radio Service Software and the SDF to give life to each radio.

The GTMS software from Genesis has been installed around the world for Motorola SMR operators as a billing and management system. GTMS allows operators to automatically assign IDs, enter all of the technical and billing information about each ID, automatically activate and deactivate IDs, collect dispatch, private conversation, and telephone usage information, invoice for all fixed and variable charges, create invoices in 20 languages, track accounts receivable, do management reports, and many other features that are specific to Motorola SMR operators.

GTMS has evolved from its beginnings in 1983. In the 80s, it was known as EzBill+ and EzSaveII. Those discrete products still exist but have been combined into a suite of software that works together for the SMR operator. All of Genesis' software operates on Intel based hardware under DOS and all Windows versions. It also operates on all of the popular LAN (Local Area Network) platforms. The smallest GTMS customer has one system with less than 300 radios. The largest GTMS user has over 1100 Motorola trunking systems with information on over one million SMR radios.

Genesis Releases EzBill Lite
Tyler, Texas

In response to small SMR operators, Genesis announces the release of EzBill Lite. EzBill Lite is PC based software for billing the airtime and fixed monthly charges on Motorola or LTR based trunking systems. EzBill Lite is a new version of the Genesis trunking billing and management software that has been in existence since 1983.

Phil Burks, President of Genesis said, "We have had numerous requests for a smaller and less expensive version of our flagship software. These requests have come from new trunking operators both here in America and in other countries where very small 3 to 5 channel trunking systems are being installed. They are looking for low cost but extremely powerful and easy to use software to help them start their business."

For the new trunking operator, Genesis has added the ability to restrict not only features that may not be needed in the beginning, but also the quantity of customers and units can be limited. The result of this is up to a 60% cost savings to the software user. The limitations can then be lifted as the customer base grows. This allows the software to grow with the trunking operator's business and keeps the initial expense low.
