FIND THOSE LOST UNITS!

A mini-logger for Motorola trunking users.

INTRODUCTION- How many times have you, our your trunking customer said... "I've got one of my people wasting my radio time by playing the FM stereo and I don't know who it is". EzID answers that question. EzID comes in two versions. The standard EzID (shown here) and the EzIDxl (for extended logging). The difference is the standard version has the LCD display and the xl does not have a LCD display. The xl model is designed to operate with EzWatch and it must operate with EzWatch. The standard version can operate in a stand alone mode with its display telling you which unit is calling. We have seen some very creative uses for the combination of EzID and EzWATCH. One of our customers uses it to monitor his system to be notified instantly if the control channel goes down. Another customer uses it to alarm when Emergency Calls are made. Another uses it to send information back to a common point for 'follow me telephone roaming'. The following information will be primarily describing the standard version.

BASIC EzID FEATURE OVERVIEW EzID is a hardware device that sits near a trunk system user's control station. Its purpose is to visually show the ID of a unit that is calling into the control station. EzID has an illuminated liquid crystal display that shows: the Type of system (TypeI, TypeII or Hybrid), Fleet or Group ID, subfleet of the unit calling in and the unit ID of the radio talking. The EzIDxl has no display and acts only as a decoder box that must be used with EzWatch. The Motorola control channel, by design, will not let EzID show a unit that "coat-tails" on the end of a conversation started by another unit. Any units talking on the same fleet, but on a subfleet different from 01, will appear on the lower right portion of the EzID display (Type I only). It attaches to the control station with 3 wires. An internal modification needs to be made to the control station. This modification adds one internal wire to the circuit board and takes a technician less than 1 hour. We provide schematics for the compatible radios listed below. EzID is powered from the 12VDC supply that operates the control station. The EzID box measures 5"W x 2½"H x 5¼"D. There are two connectors on the rear of the box. One is the 3 pin data and power input from the control station radio. The second connector is an RS-232 connector that sends the incoming information to other software such as EzWatch for logging purposes. A "null modem" cable is required. EzID can operate without any additional software.

EzID is created and manufactured by CTECH Logging Systems of Bakersfield, California. It is being marketed worldwide by The Genesis Group.

OPERATING HARDWARE REQUIREMENTS- EzID is an add-on device. The customer must provide the control station to which the EzID attaches. The installing technician should also know the items listed below.

Installation "Things To Know" Checklist Fleet ID of the end user or Group ID for TypeII Size Code of that Fleet (TypeI) Is the trunk system TypeI, TypeII or Hybrid?
