Since 1997 the Upper Sabine Solid Waste Management District has received grant money for a number of items to help reduce the amount of solid waste going to the land fill. In 1997 they recived funds for a baler, a recycling trailer, and money for a storage building to keep recyclable materials until they are baled and shipped out. In 1998 a bobcat was purchased to help with moving all the recyclables. In 1999 they will purchase three additional recycling trailers as well as a one-ton truck. Calendars with pick-up and drop-off recycling schedules were produced two years in a row and given out to residents. Below are pictures of some of the equipment purchased.
