while i am an advocate of ockham's razor - and, therefore, an anti-conspiracy type - i still love a good mystery, especially when it involves creative science fiction. thus, i love the x-files. scully and mulder have provided me with hours of great entertainment. just don't take it too seriously. |

i think one of the greatest tragedies of our time - of our technology, really - is the loss of the practice of story-telling. i relish the times that i have with my daughter to recount old legends or myths - or even an occasional dr. suess fix. garrison keillor has single-handedly brought story-telling back to some level of recognition. and although i personally find tom bodet more entertaining, mr. keillor certainly is worth listening to. and this doesn't even take into account the wonderful music and comedy wrapped up in every episode of a prairie home companion! |

west side is my home. here are my family, my friends, my companions, my mentors, my teachers, my students. if there is one thing i am convinced of, it is the necessity of the brotherhood of believers. i designed and maintain this site. check it out. |

bill gates may be satan incarnate, but he still publishes a slick e-zine! slate is usually refreshing to read if you don't mind filtering out the attendant garbage. i suppose garbage is an expected component of avant garde journalism these days! |

monty python has essentially shaped my entire twisted sense of humor. from "the killing joke" to "the ministry of silly walks", i love monty python. |

dietrich bonhoeffer has long been a great inspiration to me both volitionally and intellectually and spiritually. his thoughts and his actions were of such conviction and power that i am continually awed by his example. his writings - alternately terse, critical then reflective, circumspect - are some of the most moving and influential i have read. this site has a lot of great stuff for someone familiar with bonhoeffer - or someone willing to learn. |
