July, 1994 - July, 1996. I&C Design Engineer III for Entergy Operations, Inc. (Arkansas Nuclear One).

Performed the study and specification for the replacement of the Unit 1 and Unit 2 Main Steam Turbine Electro-Hydraulic Control Systems and Turbine Supervisory Instrumentation Systems. Project Manager for the $1,200,000 replacement of the Unit 1 Turbine Supervisory Instrumentation System using digital signal processing equipment interfacing to a VAX-based Plant Monitoring System using Windows NT, WonderWare InTouch software via NetDDE utilizing TCP/IP via Ethernet. Configured and installed TCP/IP ethernet network used for the first CRT touchscreen-based control application in the Arkansas Nuclear One Unit 2 Main Control Room. Used this network for the control and monitoring of the Alternate AC/Station Blackout Diesel Generator - a 900 RPM, 4.4 MW Caterpillar diesel engine used to support Nuclear Class 1E electrical loads during power loss events at Arkansas Nuclear One. Used Allen-Bradley PLC 5/40E processors communicating via ethernet to PC-based control applications utilizing WonderWare's InTouch process control software. Wrote ladder logic software as well as script programming in InTouch. Led in the development of human-machine interface guidelines for use on Windows-based interfaces at ANO. Installed and configured Windows NT workstations running Visual C++ for training during the development of the Inadequate Core Cooling Monitoring & Display System (ICCMDS). Responsible for the review of Software Requirements Specifications and Software Design Documents for the ICCMDS project in accordance with IEEE Software Engineering standards. Web-site development and implementation experience for corporate intranet applications. Responsible for network design and administration for plant networks using TCP/IP, IPX and NetBios protocols on 10Mbps Ethernet.

June, 1992 - July, 1994. I&C Design Engineer II for Entergy Operations, Inc. (Arkansas Nuclear One).

As Project Manager, designed and installed new Main Control Room Console for Unit 2 at Arkansas Nuclear One. This $280,000 project was completed on time and on budget. Received a Peak Performer Award from Modifications Group for work on this project and nominated for corporate-wide Chairman's Award. This project included the installation of new telephone and radio equipment and two large-screen displays used to gain greater accuracy in monitoring plant power levels allowing additional power generation capability while maintaining licensing requirements. As Project Manager, designed data network communication configuration for the addition of remote Secondary Chemical Sampling System inputs to the Plant Process Computer. Responsible for $183,000 budget for Secondary Chemistry Sampling monitoring design. As Lead Electrical Engineer, performed the design and field engineering support of electrical, network and telecommunications capabilities for the Unit 1 and Unit 2 Control Room Extension project including the specification, installation and testing of power transformers, cabling specification, and lighting analysis. Served as networking/data communications representative on B&W Owner's Group Instrumentation and Control Systems Integration Working Group to develop a specification for plant I&C system networking technology at B&W nuclear plants. Responsible for the recommendation of network architectures, protocols and technologies to the B&W Owners' Group. Experience with the design of ethernet networks using IPX, TCP/IP and DECNET using fiber and copper media and Synoptics Lattisnet, Allied Telesys and DEC equipment.
