Want to Help Stop The Spread of Hoax Emails and Viruses?

If you receive an email you suspect is a hoax or contains an attached virus, you can help by sending the "full headers" of the suspected email to Cox Customer Security at abuse@cox.net. You can also notify the authorities of hoax emails by reporting the incident to the Federal Trade Commission at spam@uce.gov . It is important that you email the "full headers" of the email so that its origin can be originated. Provided below are ways to obtain the "full headers" of an email with various email programs you may be using:

Netscape:
Open the email; go to the view menu; pull the 'Headers' menu over and click on 'all'. Highlight the headers displayed in the email and copy them into the email you send to us.

Outlook / Outlook Express 4.0:
Open the email; go to the view menu; select options. You will see a box labeled 'Internet Headers'. Highlight and copy (right click, copy) these into the email you send to us.

Outlook / Outlook Express 5.0, and 6.0:
Open the email; go to the file menu; select properties. A box will appear with a general and details tab. Click on the details tab and copy the headers of the message from there.

Eudora:
Open the email; find the small button that says Blah, Blah, Blah; click on that button. You will see the full headers displayed, highlight them and copy them into the email you send to us.

Other:
Consult your documentation.

Once you have forwarded us the message headers, we suggest you delete the email. We thank you for your assistance in the fight against the spread of email viruses.
