Technology

We all know that student learning is enhanced through technology. It increases motivation, retention, transfer, and knowledge and skills to be successful in today’s world. But before technology can significantly affect our students, we have to be comfortable with our skills and understanding of the uses of technology so we can facilitate student learning. To aide in this endeavor, we will be offering instructional technology classes on Tuesdays from 3:30 – 4:30 starting Tuesday, December 10. There will be a sign-up sheet in the lounge. Classes will range from 1 to 3 sessions with certificates of completion awarded for technology hours.

Vertical Team

Grades 3 and 4 will have a vertical meeting this Wednesday (It may last later than 4:00). Please bring your students' independent reading levels and the roster of their benchmark scores. We'll be writing down students' reading levels by their reading benchmark scores to see the correlation between achievement and reading ability.

POW WOW

We had a great time at our last POW WOW, and we’re hoping to make it better this time. This time we will have three POW WOWs (to help with the time and attention issues). PK – K at 8:30, 1^st –2^nd at 9:40, and 3^rd – 4^th at 1:55. Melissa and I will prepare the Perfect Attendance, All A, and All A & B certificates. Sandi will prepare the awards for AR. Each grade level team will need to prepare a Student of the Month certificate and be prepared to give out the “A” and “AB” certificates. If there is a cheer your class would like to share, let me know Friday. Also, I will be giving you the roster for the West Side Pledge so you can add the students that have earned the medal. If you have any suggestions, let me know, we want this to be a time of great celebration.

New TVs

The TVs are being put in every classroom to provide another medium to enhance instruction. The TVs can easily be hooked up to your computer, VCR, and future cable.
