This Indenture made and entered into this 27 day of September in the year of our Lord one thousand Eight hundred and fifty two by and between John A. Couch of the State of Tennessee and county of Greene of the one part and Nicholas Everhart of the State aforesaid and County of Hawkins of the other part Witnesseth That for and in consideration of the sum of seven hundred and fifty dollars to him in hand paid the said John A. Couch by the said Nicholas Everhart the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hath this day bargained and sold and do hereby convey and transfer unto the said Nicholas Everhart a tract of land lying and being in the county of Greene and State of Tennessee on the waters of Gap creek in district No. Eleven containing by estimation two hundred three acres and three quarters be the same more or less Adjoining the lands of Josiah Riawell & others, and bounded as follows. BEGINNING at an Elm
on a line of Brothertons, now the said Everharts North forty one and one half West twenty six poles to a walnut South forth one West twenty three poles to a walnut, North eighty West one hundred and three poles to a chestnut oak on the top of the pilot ridge south forth seven and a half West twenty three poles to a post oak, thence north fifty one & one half West thirty eight poles to a large white oak, North forty four east, twelve poles to two beaches, north twenty six West, ten poles to a stake near a poplar, north sixty east eighteen poles to a white oak & black Gum, north twenty five and a half east twenty one poles to a black oak, north fifteen West twenty six poles to a white oak and ash north twenty seven east ninety four poles to a walnut South fifty Seven East one hundred and ten poles to two white oaks, hickory & sugar tree, north thirty eight east ninety four poles to a white walnut, south thirty West twenty poles to a stake, south forty West forty poles to a stake south five West thirty two poles to a stake, east ten poles to a Beach, South thirteen East, ninety two poles to an ash south thirty, West forty six poles to a beech & sourwood, south thirteen poles to a stake, thence with Brotherton line, now the said Everharts to the beginning. To have and to hold the aforesaid tract of land with all its heriditaments and appurtenances thereunto belonging or in any wise appertaining unto the said Nicholas Everhart his heirs and assigns against the lawful claims of all persons whatsoever and I do further bind myself my heirs and representatives to warrant and defend the title to the said tract of land to the said Nicholas Everhart and his heirs forever. Greene County } of said County, George Kinney and V.D. Smith subscribing Witnesses to the within named deed, who being first sworn depose and say that they are acquainted with John A. Couch the bargainer and that they saw him sign seal and execute the same in their presence, on the day it bears date.
